Installed in MacMini - mid2011 : (added 2 MONSTER internal drives) *Samsung 840 EVO-SSD 250GB and a 2TB Toshiba for Data!!!!
How to build a POWERFUL MacMini... at a great price....
(FIRST THING: the Samsung SSD listed below is 7mm thick, much thinner then Apple's/OWC recommended 9.5max...) The 2TB Toshiba is almost 13mm THICK, much thicker then the standard 9.5mm max... but combined, they both equal to around the 20mm maximum space allowed.) Note: The Toshiba is an external drive that you have to crack out of it's case to use as an internal drive. (I'm sure it will void your warranty so test it first.) The Toshiba needs to be installed on the bottom to work but the ribbon in this kit plugs right into it and your mac will see it as a new internal drive. (Use OWC's video as a guide to install 2 drives with this kit.) This drive is too FAT to screw in but sits securely in place after the second drive is added. *You don't want to use this thick drive with the original Apple ribbon in the top position because the ribbon is to short and they don't line up right.
NEXT:
Install the 7mm Samsung SSD drive on top, using the original Apple ribbon. (There is enough space to place a credit card or plastic hotel room key between them but the SSD rear set screws line-up and the drive screws right into the original drive's position...)
Be very carful when snapping the ribbons back into their plugs.... follow the video from OWC and use the tools provided....
(PLEASE let me know how well it works for you and if it was helpful information.....)
After I installed the two drives, I installed MAVERICKs from a thumb drive onto the SSD drive. It's now VERY FAST, and has two drives available with no additional desk clutter... :)
It's mean & clean!! (OF COURSE DO AT YOUR OWN RISK.) I've been running mine like this for 5 months now with no problems.... I love my new MaxMini computer!!
I hope this was helpful...

I eventually developed a routine I followed when attempting to mount (connect) these drives, which I still follow. I found that repairing my Mac's main HDD in Disk Utility, then closing Disk Utility before trying to connect one of these, seemed to help. Then, once the Toshiba drive was mounted okay, I would again start Disk Utility and repair it even if it seemed to be working fine. Then, I would backup my Mac to it.
I guess that protocol when connecting these drives must have helped, since these drives run great now. It's been months since I got the click or one of them wouldn't mount up okay. I can repair them in Disk Utility and use my computer at the same time while doing so, without any problems. I'm not sure what made these at first somewhat sickly little drives turn into such great troopers, but they really did.
One thing that I think helps when restoring a recently screwed up Mac from one of these using Carbon Copy Cloner, is that I only have USB 2.0 on my Mac Mini, so the speed is throttled down a bit from the USB 3.0 spec, which helps them to not overheat during extended use. Plus, if I am going to be running an external drive hard for an hour or more, I point a fan at it to help it stay cool.
I bought the drive for sending a huge batch of data to someone; I copied about 250 gigs of data files off a server that only had a USB 2.0 port. The drive sustained 34 MB/sec writing the entire time the copy was running. This makes me think that if you're going to use it regularly, get a USB 3.0 interface adapter for your computer as it appears the drive will definitely take advantage of it. USB 2.0 tops out at 35 MB/sec but I'm thinking that was the what kept me pegged to 34 MB/sec for two hours and USB 3.0 would have been faster if I had the right port available.
